"The college-level project consists of 4 project in 2021. Project 1 aims to conduct a systematic investigation on the influence of COVID-19 pandemic from different perspectives, especially its impact on health system and long-term care system. This project “Health Policy Responding to the Impact of COVID-19” pays attention to 3 major fields: medical care (including telehealth), long-term care, and community health under the epidemic. This project focuses on the investigation and comparison of the epidemic impacts in Taiwan and the world, and will provide policy suggestions afterward.
The application of big data and health analytics, especially of cross-platform, multiomics, and population precision health under precision medicine, involves integration, analysis, and interpretation of information. It calls for the participation of interdisciplinary and international talented researchers. The project 2 entitled “Integrate Multi-Omic Analysis of Cross-Racial Health Data” focuses on the development of multinational human biospecimen bank, the deepening of current multinational collaboration of mental illness research, and the development of local and international human microbiome research. This project aims to deepen the international collaboration and personnel training.
Based on the research capacity of food safety and environmental health at our College, the project 3 entitled “Platform of Alternative Toxicological Evaluation and Risk Assessment of Emerging Chemicals and the Cooperative Personnel Training with Countries Targeted by the New Southbound Policy” will expand the existing academic resources and conduct complete risk assessment of food safety with comprehensive toxicological data. This project is expected to promote the integration of academic resources, improve our academic reputation and influence around the world, and attract potential international students from cooperative countries targeted by the New Southbound Policy.
Extended from the New Southbound Policy Academic Medical Alliance Project, which was granted by MOE and conducted by Institute of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, the project 4 entitled “Establishment of Research Platform on Multiple Environmental Hazards” will collaborate with large international research teams to carry out the relocation research and training for master’s students, as well as to guide local researchers to process field survey and biological sample analysis. This project aims to promote the international educational exchange and the development of environmental health sciences, as well as the mutually beneficial relationship in global health.
The college-level project also aims to promote the influence of Taiwan’s public health research and education worldwide. While synchronizing our curriculum to global networks is one of our objectives, the College will invite international scholars as co-instructors to deliver global health courses with local characteristics. This project aims to increase the quantity and quality of international students and faculty members, cultivate students and faculty members as international research talents, and improve the academic reputation and influence around the world."
