Abstract: In Taiwan, the flea beetle, Phyllotreta striolata (Fab.), one of the most important pests in vegetable field, severely infests and damages the radishes in summer season. To control the pests, insecticides have been heavily used. However, using insecticides is not only increasing the costs but also threatening the natural environment. In this project, the current chemical control applied in the vegetable farms in Taiwan will be firstly surveyed, and the environmental impacts of the insecticides will be calculated and analyzed. Besides, methods of controlling flea beetle larvae will be developed, and the environmental impact will be evaluated with the EIQs of the chemicals used.
