The results demonstrate the model’s ability to reasonably mimic the hysteresis phenomena, quantitatively estimate the non-wetting phase residuals after imbibition, and imitate the effect of residual non-wetting phase and contact angle on conductivity. However, there are two problems raised during the research. One is the size effect of the network model caused by the trend in saturation related to the distance from the boundary. The other is the amount of computation is formidable. The network model is evolved to a new direction called the “ensemble model of unit pore-throats”. Preliminary study results were encouraging. For the new model is free of size effect and the computation time requirement is manageable. It will be presented and discussed in the final report. |
