A computer- reminded prevention program was conduct on Tuesday morning for six months. Patients had to be over 40 to take part in the program, which required three visits for completion. During the Tuesday morning, a total of 228 over-40 patients were seen. Of those, 148 enrolled in the computer- reminded prevention program and 80 did not. Individual preventive check- ups usually took just 5 minutes before regular visits. The 228 patients, enrollees and non-enrollees included, made a total of 391 visits; 259 of the 391visits, or 66.2% of them, involved a preventive check-up. From a patient group exclusive of the 228, an additiional 168 over-40 patients whho visited the GPC at times other than Tuesday morning were selected to be a control group. It was found that average complete rate of preventive practice was 32.9% in control group patients and 31.4% in non-enrollees. By contrast, 64% in enrollees, showing the computer reminder to be effetive. |
