An experiment was conducted on the EdgeTech 272TD towed fish transducer to detect the target situated on a slope in a reservoir. As the main beam was tilted 20° below the horizontal, the maximum signal should be 2.75 times the depth of towed fish without considering the refraction factor. The dipping angle of a scanned slope measures the degree of the rotated angle of transducer. The quality of the sonar image on the slope may be controlled by the distance related to the slope coverage. Adjusting the incident angle of acoustic beams from the transducer related to the dipping angle of the slope appeared simple and useful. |
