Hydrolysis of the pH-sensitive hydrazone bond in the acidic environment of endosomes/lysosomes (see picture) releases Dox intracellularly from the MSN nanochannels, resulting in highly efficient apoptotic cell death. ? 2010 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
