Distention of the gastric wall may suppress the physiological uptake of F-18 FDG and may lead to increased image contrast between the lesion area and the contracted gastric wall. We present a 76-year-old woman with lung cancer. Preoperative staging F-18 FDG PET/CT incidentally revealed an area of F-18 FDG uptake in the collapsed stomach. A lesion with F-18 FDG uptake became clearly defined after distending the gastric wall with water ingestion. The subsequent histopathological result via panendoscopic biopsy suggested that this lesion was a tubulovillous adenoma with mild dysplasia. ? 2008 by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. |
