Patients and Methods: The authors reviewed the medical and ophthalmologic records of all patients with histopathologically proven non-Hodgkin lymphoma with suspected intraocular involvement who presented at National Taiwan University between 1991 and 1999. Results: There was one patient with non-Hodgkin lymphoma of the central nervous system in the study who presented with vitritis with central serous choroidoretinopathy (CSCR)-like sensory retinal detachment as the first manifestation of lymphoma. Five cases of systemic non-Hodgkin lymphoma were found. The patients' ocular manifestations included leukemia-like retinopathy, panuveitis, leopard-spot macular lesions, multifocal choroiditis-like lesions and subretinal elevated mounds with vitritis. Ocular manifestations all occurred secondary to systemic lymphoma. Conclusions: Based on these cases, ocular manifestations of non-Hodgkin lymphoma may present with a wide variety of clinical features. Careful ocular examinations of patients suspected to have non-Hodgkin lymphoma are invaluable because they may lead to early diagnosis and optimal management. |
