This device possesses several advantages: the overall thickness is less than 0.5 mm except reagent reservoir; minimal dead volume and quick processing time. It takes less than 10 seconds to process 20 μl reagents to complete mixing process, and mixed solution can be stored for further use. Furthermore, it provides a user friendly interface since pumping force is embedded in a vacuum pouch, and external pumping system is not required. This film-mixer provides a standalone mixing function and has a potential to become a point-of-care platform in near future. Copyright ? (2018) by Chemical and Biological Microsystems Society.
