Title: | An unusual complication of hydronephrosis due to acute pancreatitis after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography | Authors: | JUSTIN CHENG-TA YANG KUO-HOW HUANG CHIN-CHEN CHANG KAO-LANG LIU |
Issue Date: | Feb-2011 | Journal Volume: | 77 | Journal Issue: | 2 | Source: | Urology | Abstract: | A 65-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatographic removal of a common bile duct stone. Fever and epigastralgia developed after the procedure. Computed tomography revealed acute cholecystitis and acute pancreatitis at the pancreatic head region. Her symptoms subsided after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. However, fever and dysuria developed 1 month later. Intravenous urography confirmed right hydronephrosis due to ureteropelvic junction obstruction. Ureteroscopy revealed stricture at the right upper ureter, and a double-J stent was placed. The patient recovered after removal of the double-J stent 3 months later. No recurrent symptoms were noted at 1 year of follow-up. |
