The system requires two plates; one is the base plate including three known points, the other one including three unknown points. The first plate is fixed on a platform and the second one is fixed on the spindle of machine. The two plates are connected with laser ball bars. The spindle is moved toward the diagonal of the working space after all the installation. But the real motions are stepping along the x, y, and the z directions respectively then back to the diagonal line. One complete cycle motion is then completed. In each step movement, there are six important lengths of the laser ball bars are measured. By means of the six lengths and the three known points on the base plate, the three unknown points on the spindle plate can be derived and the volumetric errors at that position are then induced. All the following contents have been submitted to the International Journal of Advanced manufacturing technology in UK. |
