Publication Recognition, Understanding and Construction-on Indigenous Studies in the Bulletin of Department of Anthropology during Half a Century(2006-12); Hsieh, S.C.In this article, I have overviewed all publications on indigenous studies in the Bulletin of Department of Anthropology, NTU since 1953 till 2006. The main purpose for me to work on it is attempting to figure out the relationships between university and indigenous people. I believe that we surely can grasp some crucial directions of the development of anthropology in Taiwan if works on indigenous people from the Bulletin have been altogether reviewed. As a matter of fact, should one need to know anything on indigenous history or culture, the Bulletin can provide full academic information without question. The indigenous that have been academically created by Taiwanese anthropologists through the Bulletin are performed by particular style. The Bulletin has witnessed the processes of Taiwan indigenous being recognized and understood. The authors play as "suppliers" or "providers" of anthropological knowledge, and the readers whereas act as "receivers" or "consumers" of the constructed indigenous socio-cultural life. Students who would like to study history of anthropology in Taiwan must carefully read the Bulletin, and the main "anthropological faces" on the island-state shall be clearly drawn out.journal article1 3
