摘要:生科司學門規劃推動共分成 18 學門,分別為「生物農學組」3 學門、「基礎醫學組」5 學門、和「臨床醫學組」10 學門,並增加新興/其他領域,每學門邀請學者擔任學門召集人。學門召集人之職掌為1) 協助專題研究計畫申請案之推動及審查 ,2) 出席國際會議、海外學人來華演講與短期科學技術指導、及延攬研究人才等申請案之審查,3) 國際合作雙邊科技合作(合作領域規劃、優先合作項目建議、人員互訪交流等)、補助國內舉辦國際學術研討會、補助團隊參與國際學術組織會議及補助跨國產學合作交流及專業人才培訓等申請案之審議,4) 出席學門召集人會議,協助科技部相關業務之推展,5) 協助撰寫該學門發展規劃及成果報告、學門年報或協助提供臨時性該學門相關學術資料,6) 辦理審查說明會、討論會、座談會或成果發表會,7) 其它學門相關業務之諮詢、規劃與推動,8) 發掘前瞻研究主題或推動國際交流。 微免及檢驗醫學學門除了繼續鼓勵扎實的基礎研究,也計畫推動將微生物學及免疫學之基礎研究轉譯到臨床科學的研究與應用。推動方向將包括以下重點:1. 微生物學與醫學檢驗方面,台灣有許多優秀的微生物學研究專家,分別在致病原的複製/致病機轉、分子診斷與治療、藥物設計與篩選、抗藥性機轉、治療抗體與疫苗開發等都有卓越的研究成果。本學門將推廣新穎技術如次世代基因定序、高效液相層析質譜及串聯式質譜法等在微生物群相分析與代謝質體等領域的應用,希望藉由驗證型的研究成果來釐清致病原在生物體的致病機轉,並將驗證的生物標誌及分子標的分別應用於臨床檢驗及治療的新方向。2.目前在癌症的免疫療法中,除了之前的小分子藥物療法,在細胞治療與疫苗治療上有許多卓越的進展;這也是一個可以將免疫基礎研究有效應用到臨床檢驗與治療的面向,例如,鑑定及偵測適當的腫瘤抗原、以腫瘤抗原來訓練出能搜尋及殺死癌細胞的免疫細胞、利用基因轉殖的方式將改造過的T細胞送回體內殺死癌細胞、及以腫瘤抗原/胜肽激發病人的免疫力等。3. 促進研究團隊的形成及積極推動國際合作。本學門希望規畫前瞻研究主題,繼續推動以系統性探討病原體與宿主交互作用的全方位研究及服務平台,來加強微生物學者與免疫學者的互動與合作。此種合作模式也將協助新進研究人員/教師建立研究主題及發揮其研發能量。此外,本學門也會配合科技部國際合作的既定政策,加強跨國團隊的形成,以增加國內研究成果的國際可見度。
Abstract: The Department of Life Sciences in the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) contains 18 disciplines, and one emerging areas, including 3 in biology and agriculture, 5 in basic medical science, and 10 in clinical medical science. One expert will be appointed as the coordinator of the discipline. The coordinator is responsible for the following affairs: 1) assists in promoting and reviewing application documents of research projects, 2) reviews application documents for attending international conferences, inviting oversea scholars for lectures and short-term instructions, and recruiting research personnel, and etc., 3) reviews application documents of international cooperation/bilateral science and technology cooperation, grants for international symposiums, grants for the participation of international academic organization conferences, and grants for international academic-industry cooperation and professional training, 4) attends meetings for discipline coordinators and supports business promoting campaign of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 5) assists in collecting research results, composing annual research reports, and providing academic data related to the discipline, 6) hosts meetings, conferences, seminars, announcement campaigns, and etc., 7) provides other related disciplines with assistance in planning, organizing and executing events or performances, and 8) explores prospective study or promote international academic exchanges. We will encourage the solid basic research in the field of Microbiology, Immunology and Medical Laboratory Sciences, yet also promote the transition of basic research to clinical investigation and applications. First of all, in the field of Microbiology and Medical Laboratory Sciences, we have many experts specialized in the field of replication/pathogenesis of microbes, molecular diagnosis and therapy, anti-microbe drug design and therapeutic strategy development, antimicrobial mechanisms, therapeutic monoclonal antibody and vaccine development. We aim to promote the incorporation of new technology such as next generation sequencing, Liquid Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer and tandem mass spectrometry in the study of microbiota and metabolite analysis, in the hope to delineate the molecular pathogenic mechanisms of microbes. The final aim will be to apply the study results, such as the application of the identified molecular markers and targets in the clinical diagnosis and new direction of therapeutic strategy. Second, immunotherapy in the cancer treatment has become a very hot topic. Besides the small molecule strategy, it is worth noting that immune cell therapy (adoptive cell transfer) and cancer vaccine therapy yield many new progress. Many related topics can help to bridge the basic research to clinical applications, such as identification and detection of cancer antigen/peptide, enriching and training the tumor-specific immune killing cells, application of genetic engineered T cells to kill the tumors, and induction of host immunity to tumor by tumor antigen/peptides. Third, we will continue to promote the formation of multidisciplinary research teams and international cooperation. We plan to brainstorm some research topics to promote systemic investigation and research platform of the interactions between host and microbes, in the hope to strengthen the cooperation between researchers and cultivation of young investigators. Also, we will cooperate with the strategies of international cooperation by MOST to promote the formation of multination teams to increase the exposure of our research results.
