Description

Abstract

WP4 Link environment to biodiversity: analyses of patterns, processes and trends (UFZ) 工作目標,其工作項目包含:

Task 4.1 Integrative analyses of distribution status and trends
Task 4.2 Status and trends in populations in relation to associated drivers
Task 4.3 Scenarios of biopersity change for a risk assessment, integrating migration and dispersal mechanisms
Task 4.4 Optimizing monitoring designs and improving their cost efficiency
Task 4.5 Quantifying uncertainty from different sources
為達成以上之項目,本計劃之主要目標為:
(1) To perform integrative analyses of distribution status and trends.
(2) To investigate status and trends in populations in relation to associated drivers.
(3) To apply scenarios of biodiversity change for a risk assessment, integrating migration, and dispersal mechanisms.
(4) To develop optimizing monitoring designs and improve their cost efficiency.
(5) To quantify uncertainty and perform uncertainty analysis from different sources.
Abstract: EU BON, Building the European Biodiversity Observation Network, presents an innovative approach towards integration of biodiversity information systems from on-ground to remote sensing data, for addressing policy and information needs in a timely and customized manner. The main objective of EU BON is to build a substantial part of the Group on Earth Observation’s Biodiversity Observation Network (GEO BON). Such a network and approach are crucial for attaining efficient processes of data collation, analysis, and provisioning to stakeholders. EU BON intends to develop a full-scale model for a durable mechanism for higher level integration of biodiversity information providers and users, through a network of networks approach scalable from local to global biodiversity observation systems. Accordingly, the two related networking levels proposed by EU BON include (1) a science-based social network which comprises and links the communities of practice engaged in collecting, managing, analyzing, and utilizing biodiversity observations and data, and (2) a technological network which interoperates IT infrastructures and systems that store and distribute information of all kinds held by multiple organizations and partners and to provide a platform for data analysis and interpretation (http://www.eubon.eu/show/project_2731/).

In collaboration with EU BON, this project focuses on the forth work package, WP4 Link environment to biodiversity: analyses of patterns, processes and trends (UFZ). In this project, we will analyze status and trends of populations and species based on point and range data, i.e. data source are hence discontinuous in space and time and projections aim at providing continuous results wherever possible. Focus will be on carefully selected taxa (e.g., Red Lists, Nature Directives, invasive species) and uncertainty analyses will be crucial in all analyses. Ultimately, we aim at cross taxa and cross realm analyses and development of GIS-based software, using data from terrestrial, freshwater and marine realms jointly, considering and integrating several organizational levels, e.g. DNA data, taxonomic data, functional trait data. The purposes of this project are:

(1) To perform integrative analyses of distribution status and trends.
(2) To investigate status and trends in populations in relation to associated drivers.
(3) To apply scenarios of biodiversity change for a risk assessment, integrating migration, and dispersal mechanisms.
(4) To develop optimizing monitoring designs and improve their cost efficiency.
(5) To quantify uncertainty and perform uncertainty analysis from different sources.
