Abstract
摘要:印刷電子(Printed Electronics)是目前發展中的新興高科技產業,在技術的開發改良以及應用元件部分仍然有很大的發展空間。基於未來多元的需求與應用,近來由可撓式電子(Flexible Electronics)延伸發展出可拉伸式(Stretchable)電子元件概念,除了能應用在電子元件上外,亦能應用於人體穿戴、生醫光電或發光顯示器部分等等。可撓式印刷電子產品最關鍵的部分在於塗佈後,圖樣化材料結構需要穩定,不受到撓曲過程中的破壞。對於拉伸式電子應用而言,塗層的結構改變具有一定程度的破壞性,故兩大關鍵在材料結構面與元件製程設計方面的改善,以增進塗層在拉伸過程中的穩定性。本計畫之主要目的係利用各式化學或物理方式製造高效能之圖樣化拉伸薄膜,並將其應用於各式電子元件製造。我們在本計畫中預計完成下列事項:
1 製造高導電度兼具高拉伸性之金屬薄膜塗層。
2 以印刷方式製造圖案化的高拉伸性導電薄膜。
3 製造拉伸式氧化物或高分子塗料,以印刷方式於拉伸式基材上製造元件圖樣,
以探索印刷技術於半導體、光電及燃料電池之應用。
4 改進塗層間的接觸相容問題,並尋找較佳之材料,以增進元件之功能。
5 開發拉伸式電子元件的微小化及大量複製之印刷方法,並尋求製程最佳化。
總之,我們將結合印刷技術和微機電製程,開發新一代拉伸功能性電子應用以製作經濟實惠、功能齊全且具備未來發展潛力之電子元件應用。我們相信,這個研究計畫將會大大提升這個在未來十年重要科技的根本了解。從此研究計畫所累積的知識、關鍵技術和經驗亦將有助於提升未來台灣在可拉伸式印刷電子產業中實力和競爭力。

Abstract: Printed electronics is an emerging high-tech industry in the coming decade. It makes use of various printing techniques, including inkjet printing, screen printing, and offset printing, to manufacture electronic components on flexible or even stretchable substrates. The major problems for those printed devices are either function deterioration or structural instability of the printed patterns after numerous bending and stretching cycles. Thus, the current key technological challenges to those printed electronics are (i) formulation of functional inks and (ii) adhesion and stability of printed patterns. The main purposes of this project are to utilize chemical or physical means to formulate high-performance ink and apply various types of printing technology to produce stretchable electronic devices. In this project, we expect to accomplish the following:

1 Manufacture highly stretchable conductive metal tracks on plastic substrates.
2 Develop printing process for patterned stretchable tracks.
3 Formulate metal oxide or polymer inks for highly stretchable electronic devices,
such as UV photo detectors or polymer LED.
4 Investigate the compatibility between conductive tracks and functional layers.
5 Integrate and optimize printing processes for stretchable electronics.

In summary, we will apply printing technologies to manufacture stretchable electronics for affordable devices with great functions and high accuracies. We believe that the fundamental understandings from this research project will greatly help technological advances of this important technology in the next decade. The accumulated knowledge and experiences of those key technologies will also strengthen the competitiveness of printed electronic industry in Taiwan.
