| dc.description.abstract | <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="line-height:1.5;">Trauma occupied the third place in the top ten causes of death in Taiwan. Besides, Taiwan leads the world in mortality associated with trauma. With the socio-economic progress, trauma service in emergency medicine has become an important issue related to the well-being of people.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"> Therefore, in September 2001, with the full support of Superintendent, the Department of Traumatology at National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) was established by young physicians from Departments of Surgery, Orthopedics and Emergency Medicine. It is a new force in NTUH, as well as the most comprehensive team of traumatology in Taiwan.
