dc.description.abstractThe Institute of Biotechnology in NTU was founded in 2006 to foster high-level cross-disciplinary biotechnology professionals. Graduates are expected to play crucial roles in fields including tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, genomics and proteomics, structural biology and bioinformatics. The institute’s educational goals are: buildup of professional knowledge and technology integration philosophies, cultivation of the spirit of research and development, ethics in biotech, and expansion of industry and international perspective. Asides from the biotech core courses, there are a variety of optional courses to choose from. In addition, all professional courses are taught in English and the institute recruits many outstanding international scholars to teach and to research. The institute also frequently holds international academic symposium, and encourages faculty and students to participate in international conferences or study abroad, to gain an international perspectives. The institute has been involved in integrating inter-departmental and inter-College teaching and research resources in the fields related to Biotechnology. This power is catalyzed further by introducing training in Law and Management. Thus the Institute of Biotechnology is aiming to foster high-level cross-disciplinary biotechnology professionals.en
