Biography
I am an applied mathematician working in epidemiology with series of publications in data-driven modeling studies of infectious diseases. My recent focus has been on the real-time analysis of emerging diseases of global importance. Specifically, I have:
• Expertise in modeling of infectious and non-communicable diseases, ranging from influenza and measles transmission to cancer incidence and prevention,
• Experience as a team member of interdisciplinary/international collaborations, and
• The ability to work effectively with experts in local and international environments.
My teaching philosophy focuses on:
• The interplay between practice-based research and education,
• Theoretical courses on public/global health and mathematical modeling and
associated practical sessions on how to use computer languages (R, python, etc.)
and associated computational packages (Stan, pymc3, etc.) for data analysis,
• Interaction with students throughout the entire problem-solving process.
