本計畫欲開發新穎抗癌高分子應用於癌症治療。抗癌高分子將使用聚烯丙基胺進行改質為胍基,進而開發不同比例之胺基與胍基之共聚陽離子。根據本實驗室先前數據顯示,聚烯丙基胺對於癌細胞和正常細胞具有高細胞毒性,其效果與化學療法近似。相比之下,同為聚陽離子的聚烯丙基胍,則在癌細胞或正常細胞中皆展現低細胞毒性,然而聚烯丙基胍可增強癌細胞對於化學藥物之吸收,以提高治療效果。因聚烯丙基胍可有助於藥物穿透細胞膜,而聚烯丙基胺具有高細胞毒性,故合理預期具有烯丙基胍與烯丙基胺之共聚合物可提升藥物效力,從而減少劑量與不良反應。
