Abstract
Urban regeneration through cultural-based activities has emerged as a crucial feature of the postmodern city of consumption. One of the most dramatic elements of contemporary urban regeneration is the visual transformation of the cityscape associated with the rise of cultural economy and high-quality urban design.
The paper tries to discuss this style of urban culture-led regeneration at the museum-greenway district at downtown Taichung, especially when Taichung city-county consolidated into an evolving metropolis. It tries to explore how urban regeneration management promote cultural clusters, gradually develop the cultural creative economy and enhance an image of brandscape, associated with the value-added cityscape and livable environment. Meanwhile, this paper also tries to propose the spatial strategies in urban culture-led regeneration for the inner Taichung city. Finally, the paper concludes by briefly noting some critical issues and policy implications for promoting the cultural creative industries for the inner city at Taichung.
