Abstract
The deposition of biocolloids onto a negatively charged, planar collector surface is modeled theoretically. Here, a biocolloid is mimicked by a rigid core covered by a negatively charged, ion-penetrable membrane. The results of simulation reveal that the following conditions lead to a faster rate of deposition: (1) thicker membrane (constant total amount of fixed charge); (2) lower fixed charge density; (3) smaller valence of the cations in the liquid phase; (4) lower surface potential of the collector surface.
