Abstract
This research is studied in the strength and fatigue property for the solar vehicle aluminum wheels. According to the light alloy motorcycle wheel standard of Japan Automotive Standard Operation (JASO), finite element analysis method is applied to simulate the impact test and the bending fatigue test of the standard. During the process, the stress and the strain distribution were observed, and then the strain fracture theory and the fatigue life theory are used for the criterions to guide if the wheel occurs fracture and fatigue. Due to the analysis results, the impact test simulation only causes plastic deformation in the rim near the impact point, and the Maximum von Mises stress is below the endurance limit stress of the material in fatigue test simulation. Both of the results show the design were safe and satisfy the requirements of the standard.
