Abstract
This article aims at an analysis of the enhancement of the quality of man in Taiwan in the light of education. In the first section, I indicate that the problem of man is best reflected upon in the concrete and specific context of Taiwan. Then, I identify, in section two, that the major problem of present-day Taiwan lies in the fact that the ��self�� in Taiwan is a ��de-contextualized self.�� The third section of this paper is devoted to an analysis of the shortcomings of education in Taiwan as a factor affecting the quality of man. The remaining sections four and five reach the conclusion that Taiwan's education in the twenty-first century must devote more attention to the establishment of the students' ��subjectivity�� so as to develop ��inter-subjectivity�� between the ��self�� and ��the other.��
