Abstract
Multi-user virtual environment (MVE) is a popular topic attracting much research focus in recent years. Reducing the amount of information transmitted over the network for such an environment is a crucial task for good system performance. This thesis focuses on how to screen unnecessary information transmission in such a system from a user's point of view. We will try to satisfy as many users as possible with a just-enough strategy. We propose a set of network service models to assess user's satisfaction according to the user's activity and hardware capability. We have implemented a control system with these models to reduce the amount of network transmission and conducted experiments to observe the system performances under different exeprimental settings. Finally, we analyze the results of the experimental data and discuss them with our possible future extensions.
