The major objective of the research is to investigate simplified element motion models
for the Discrete Element Method so that the computer operation time can be effectively
reduced. In addition, a discrete element analysis program has been developed in this work
and used to verify feasibility and effectiveness of simplified motion mechanisms in the
example of initial packing for the simulation of v-funnel tests of self-compacting concrete.
