Abstract
Tape helix and sheath helix models are used to develop design rules for bifilar helical antenna(
BHA). Operational range of parameters are also organized to facilitate the design.
Design examples for dual-band GPS and satellite persional communication network are
demonstrated.
Shaped conical radiation patterns with 0 < G,max < 90 and 3 dB < gain < 20 dB
can be implemented by proper choice of , C , and N. The measured results show that the
bandwidth with 10 dB return loss is from 1 to 2 GHz. This BHA has good quality of circular
polarization when frequency is below 1.6 GHz.
