Abstract
Recently, the development of micro- or nano- scaled device utilizing the supplied electric field or salt concentration gradient as driving force is prosperous. Owing to the advance in composite material and molecular modification, these devices show potential on development in diversified field. Liquid electrolyte solution driven by electric field, known as electroosmosis, or driven by salt concentration gradient, known as diffusioosmotic flow, are the common phenomenon in such devices. We calculate the analytic solution or conduct numerical simulation on these two phenomena. For electroosmosis, we conduct the investigation on the influence of temperature, pH, and bulk electrolyte concentration on the electroosmotic flow in a pH-regulated, zwitterionic cylindrical pore under applied electric field. For diffusioosmotic flow, we simulate the flow in the bipolar cylindrical pore under applied salt concentration gradient based on continuum model. We also study the influence of bulk electrolyte concentration on the diffusioosmotic flow.
