Abstract
Being one of a series of studies for
paternalistic leadership, this study was
designed to investigate the relative effects of
paternalistic leadership, comparing with
Western leadership model, on subordinate
effectiveness that includes subordinate
reverence, trust in supervisor, organizational
commitment and supervision satisfaction.
Analyzing the data of 660 staffs and
supervisors from 60 enterprises, the results
showed that (1) paternalistic leadership has
unique effects on subordinate effectiveness
when western leadership was controlled; (2)
the three components of paternalistic
leadership have different effects and patterns
on outcome variables. These findings supported the hypothesis of this study.
