Abstract
As soon as bringing Light Rail Transit (LRT) into Taiwan road system, it will influence the traffic safety of others road users. However, according to the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) accident data from abroad, it’s found that the road safety of LRT is not worse than other transit modes. For this reason, this study tries to make a thorough inquiry in the issue of LRV road safety, and then to establish the road safety analysis model for LRT.
First, this study finds out the criterions of LRT road safety by reviewing the safety data of LRT from abroad, gathering the accident statics of Taiwan, and analyzing the traffic conflict of LRV and other vehicles. In order to know the level of safety perception of these criterions, this study introduces the two-step questionnaire, AHP for the set of weight of criterions and fuzzy questionnaire for the set of safety perception measure. And then it establish the road safety analysis model by combining the set of and .
Finally, this study uses the clustering analysis to classify all condition into six levels (from level A to level F). This study suggests a safety checklist to make a thorough check on the design, measurement, and traffic condition of LRT beforing it starts to operate. And this study also suggests some coutermeasures to deal with LRT road safety problems.
