Abstract
The lack of motivation and interests for students in learning Engineering
Mechanics and Engineering Mathematics related courses has become a common and
increasingly serious problem in college Engineering education. The consequences
are the decreasing learning quality of students and increasing frustration of
teachers in these fundamental Engineering courses. To address this issue, we hold
a conference to discuss how creative teaching and learning methods can help to
improve teaching and learning of college Engineering Mechanics and Mathematics
related courses. The objectives of the conference are two-folds: one is to present
our research result on the design and development of an integrated curriculum and
some computer-aided instruction tools for Engineering Mechanics and Mathematics
related courses, and the other is to offer opportunities for scholars and experts
to share their experiences and knowledge on college engineering education.
