Abstract
After marrying Taiwanese people, the female migrants’ from Mainland China and East Asian countries have to leave behind their original job, family, friends for Taiwan, a completely alien land for most of them, to establish a new home with their husband. However, Taiwanese laws are harsh on them and therefore before they acquire their Taiwan ID Card it is always very difficult for them to find satisfactory jobs. Consequently, many female migrants turn to small businesses, hoping that they can help them achieve their goal of independence and simultaneously increase income for their families. n recent years, although the issues about female entrepreneurship have been set into action by National Youth Commission, Executive Yuan, the research on the new female immigrants’ entrepreneurship process in Taiwan is still absent. And that is why the topic is of interest to me and I hope, by this research, to observe their real situation in Taiwan and give them proper concerns. I hope that after I realize more about their motivations in starting their small business, the entrepreneurship process, and the difficulties they encounter during their entrepreneurship process, I can propose a more proper entrepreneurship guidance and assistance policy, which our government can refer to when they want to draw up a new one. The method and design of this study is based on the qualitative research. It includes five aspects that I hope to probe into: Firstly, what are the motivations of entrepreneurship for the new female immigrants? Secondly, what kinds of restriction are imposed on them about their entrepreneurial activities? Thirdly, how such restrictions influence the content and quality of their entrepreneurial activities? Fourthly, can they change the gender order and power relationship in their families by their entrepreneurial activities? And lastly, are the present entrepreneurship guidance and assistance policy that Taiwanese government offers appropriate and sufficient for them?
