Abstract
The dihedral angles of nano-size Ni inclusions in Al2O3 matrix were measured. The ratios of interfacial fracture energy to grain boundary fracture energy, interfacial fracture energy to transgranular energy were determined. The presence of Ni inclusions created a stronger interfacial fracture energy relative to grain boundary fracture energy. Results indicate that the interfacial fracture energy plays an important role for the mechanical properties of nanocomposite.
