Rheomacrodex in the treatment of acute vascular vertigo

Abstract
Acute vertiginous patients who had poor response to the treatment of sodium bicarbonate were studied, among those of central vertigo, Group A consisted of 39 cases treated with Rheomacrodex, while Group B was 12 patients treated with normal saline or 5% glucose solution, the group-A patients experienced complete symptom relief by 1.8 ± 1.0 day, subsidence of spontaneous nystagmus by 2.1 ± 1.2 days, and average admission period by 4.3 ± 1.4 days, which were significantly earlier than those in group B(p<0.05). The incidence of brainstem stroke was notably high (43%) in the ineffective group, while that of central vertigo without specific delineation was predominant in the effective group.
