Abstract
Abstract We have studied the influence of the boundary surfaces on spinodal decomposition in thin films of a critical polymer mixture. The wetting layer formed during spinodal decomposition is found to grow as t 1/3 and the corresponding composition vs. depth profiles exhibit dynamic scaling behavior. For sufficiently thin films, the effects of the two boundary surfaces interfere and the overall domain structure is found to be strongly thickness dependent.
