Abstract
Zigbee protocol is the most famous protocol using in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), and it is constructed based on IEEE 802.15.4, which is designed specifically for low-rate, low-powered, and short-distanced wireless personal area networks. In this paper, the power consumption in Zigbee is focused and the mechanism is helpful to save the power in some applications.n Zigbee, there are three kinds of devices : coordinators, routers, end-devices. There is only end-device that is available with low power mode. Sometimes routers are idly hearing the air without relaying messages, and then they consumed more energy. In this research, routers are designed to have low power modes with some sleeping mechanisms.he research are divided into two parts: enhanced AODV routing method and low power mode mechanism. Each router plan to enter low power mode should follow the main rule that no node will be isolated. Once it is accessed to sleep, the power would be saved more than active mode.
