Abstract
Acromegaly is due to overproduction of GH and insulin-like growth factor-1 after puberty, which resulting in abnormal hyperplasia or hypertrophy of generalized organs. These include appearance and other pathological changes. It is a chronic endocrine disorder. The major cause is growth hormone producing tumor of the pituitary gland. The prevalence rate is 40-125/1,000,000. Annual increase of 3-4 cases/1,000,000. This consensus of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of acromegaly is formed after several meetings of specialists in this field in Taiwan, to provide for the reference of management of this disorder.
