Abstract
In previous articles, the authors introduced Lagrange multiplier based fictitious domain methods. Their goal in the present article is to apply a generalization of the above methods to simulate the motion of a neutrally buoyant ellipsoid in a three-dimensional Poiseuille flow and to investigate its rotational and orientational behavior via direct numerical simulations. We find distinctive states depending on the Reynolds number ranges and the shape of the ellipsoid. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
