Abstract
Oxygen tension is a key variable influencing various biological activities in vivo, such as tissue repair and tumor growth. To study the phenomena, in vitro cell studies via microfluidic devices capable of generating oxygen tension were developed recently. However, it is challenging to accurately estimate oxygen profiles. The traditional method is limited by the difficulty of fluorescence intensity measurement. Besides, the oxygen level may be lower-estimated due to rough estimation of the fluorescence intensity at 0% oxygen state. To overcome these difficulties, we peform a frequency domain fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy to accurately measure oxygen tension profiles in microfluidic devices.
