Abstract
This paper presents an evolutionary approach for the synthesis of oblique incidence optical thin-film designs. Based on family competition and adaptive rules, the proposed approach consists of global and local strategies by integrating decreasing mutations and self-adaptive mutations. The method is applied to a called heat reflector and a cold mirror in the region from 0.4 /spl mu/m to 1.2 /spl mu/m with the incidence angle 45/spl deg/. The proposed approach generates binary-type solutions which are very close to the target specification. Experimental results show that; the proposed approach Is very flexible and performs very robustly.
