Abstract
Microsensors and microsystems have sparked much interest
in recent years due to their potential applications in
industry. The strong interest, both in academic and commercial
sectors, in microsensors and microsystems gave
rise to ’The First International Meeting on Microsensors
and Microsystems’, held at the National Cheng Kung University,
Tainan, Taiwan, on the 12th–14th January, 2003.
This meeting was organized under the sponsorship of the
National Science Council of the Republic of China, in
collaboration with the National Cheng Kung University.
The main objective of this meeting was to provide a unifying
forum for the evaluation of progress in the areas
such as: (a) chemical and biological sensors; (b) molecular
imprinting technology; (c) micro-fabrication and microfluidics;
(d) micro-telemetric systems; and (e) micro-electric
power.
