Abstract
Abstract In this paper, an efficient method is proposed to derive cyclic p-y curves from either push-over or shaking table test results. The Fourier series function, satisfying the boundary conditions of a pile, is used to represent deflection behavior of the pile-soil system at each instant of time during loading interval. In order to obtain soil reaction along the pile shaft, convergence of the series after differentiation is guaranteed by applying the Cesaro sum technique. Results of four push-over tests and two other shaking table test results, conducted at the National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering in Taiwan, are then used to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.
