Abstract
In this article, under discussion, 4th paragraph, the word “East Asian” was incorrectly published instead of “European”. The complete correct paragraph is given below. There are many studies regarding polygenic risk score of eGFR, CKD or eGFR decline. However, these polygenic risk scores were mostly constructed from genome wide association studies in European populations, and their use was not validated in populations of other ancestries. The Population Architecture Using Genomics and Epidemiology (PAGE) study examined the difference between European and non-European populations, and it revealed that one out of four tag single nucleotide polymorphisms identified in GWAS findings in Europeans had significantly different effect sizes in at least one non-European population, and thus a polygenic risk score derived from European genome wide association studies may generate false results in non- European populations [29]. Martin et al. also evaluated generalization of European GWAS results to other populations, and found that the polygenic risk scores of several well-studied phenotypes (height, waist-hip ratio, schizophrenia, type 2 diabetes, and asthma) constructed from European GWAS were biased by genetic drift among non- European populations [30]. Our polygenic risk scores were constructed from an East Asian population and thus may not be validated in people of European ancestry, as single nucleotide polymorphism linkage disequilibrium and minor allele frequency differ significantly among different population. The original article has been corrected.
