Abstract
A novel polarization-reconfigurable slot ring antenna that can switch between right-handed and left-handed circular polarization (RHCP and LHCP) is presented. The radiating structure consists of a slot ring and a pair of orthogonal diagonal slits. Four PIN diodes are symmetrically placed across the slits near the junctions of the slot ring and slits to enable switching between RHCP and LHCP simply by changing the applied DC voltages. A 2.4-GHz prototype antenna is designed and fabricated. The measured |S11| agrees well with those simulated. The radiation performance is satisfactorily good. © 2017 IEEE.
