Abstract
Particles have been one of the major components of air pollutants in metropolitan areas in Taiwan. The fine fraction of the metropolitan Taipei aerosol mainly comes from particles in vehicular emissions and products of photochemical reactions. The concentration level and chemical composition of fine particles in typical indoor environments in Taipei are comparable to those of ambient aerosols, especially in school classrooms which are not air- conditioned and therefore the doors and windows remain open nearly all the time. This study has the primary purpose of evaluating the contribution of vehicular emissions to the fine fractions of ambient aerosols as well as fine particles in typical indoor environments such as school classrooms and residential buildings.
