Abstract
This research considers the rice production as a system to analyze. By utilizing the investigation and collected materials, one can calculate the labor hours demanded for the rice production and its range of machinery operation cost.
The rice production process in this research includes: irrigation→ land preparation→ raising seedlings→ transplantion of rice seedlings→ cultivation management→ harvesting, followed by the calculation of labor hours and operation cost of each stage of rice production. Analyzing the collected data enable us to identify the minimum and maximum labor hours and the range of the mechanical operation cost in the rice production.
According to the results, the rice production process falls between 89.5-107.2 hours per hectare, and the rice production operation cost falls between 29550.8- 37047.4 NT dollars per hectare.
In fact, in order to reduce the labor hour for each unit, we must apply high-efficient agricultural machinery, and reduce operation cost by raising annual working hours and acreages.
