Abstract
A tracing technique is applied to a spherical symmetric refractive profile to simulate the Doppler shift. The bending angle and impact parameter can be solved from the Doppler shift based on the Bouguer's law. An algorithm is developed to derive the refractive index below the height of the low-earth-orbit satellite involved in a radio occultation scheme. The error of restored refractivity profile is below 2.5%.
