Abstract
The host grooming has been
believed to be the pivotal factor to the
distribution of cat fleas, Ctenocephalides
felis (Bouché), on the cat’s body (Hsu et
al. 2002a). However, the preliminary
experiments showed that the trend of
aggregation of fleas on cat’s neck is not
significantly different among cats in
different grooming efficiency. More
data are needed to confirm this result.
The possible function of nonviable eggs
and cocoons is to reduce the risk of
cannibalism by conspecific third instars
(Hsu et al. 2002b). Please look into
the two attached papers for further
details.
