Abstract
The third-year report summarizes our
previous results of figural filling-in and depth
interpolation in the blind spot. We also report
here our recent findings and intended computer
simulation. The third-year psychophysical
experiments clearly demonstrate how the
variable of background homogeneity
influences the filling-in process in the blind
spot. The cortical representation format is
also clarified for mapping with visual
function in the vicinity around the blind spot.
Based on these findings, we propose a
tentative computational theory to simulate
the visual behavior of the blind spot.
