Abstract
In order to evaluate the clinical usefulness of the color Doppler vascularity (CDVI)
in patients with gastric cancer, seventy-nine gastric cancer patients were studied
with microvessel density. Among them, tumors were sonographically visible in
thirty-one patients. Vascular invasion and CDVI were independent prognostic
factors. CDVI was also a good preoperative indicator of early death in stage III
gastric cancer patients. Thus, CDVI may be helpful in selecting patients with
gastric cancer for neoadjuvant chemotherapy and/or anti-angiogenic therapy.
