Abstract
This paper is an epistemological critique of "The Production of Houses" written by C. Alexander. It includes: 1. an introdudction of the concept of self help and the housing project in Mexicali. 2. a review of the system of housing production proposed by Alexander. 3. the examination of this new approach in social cultural political and economic perspectives.
